Requirements when registering to vote in Arizona A citizen of the United States A resident of Arizona and the county listed on your registration 29 days prior to the election 18 years of age or older on or before next election You are able to write your name or make your mark (X) (unless prevented by disability) You are unable to register if: You have been adjudicated an incapacitated person You have been convicted of treason or a felony, unless you have had your civil rights restored. Ways to Register Online – If you have an Arizona Drivers License and/or an Arizona non-operating I.D. card issued by the Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) you may register to vote through Service Arizona EZ Voter Registration If you have trouble logging in to the Service Arizona website, you can print off a Voter Registration Form and fill it out with your new information. After you finish, mail the completed form to your County Recorder’s office and your information will be updated. By Mail – You can either print off a form online or request that a registration form be mailed to you from your County Recorder. After completing the voter registration form, mail it to your County Recorder’s office. In Person – You may visit your County Recorder’s office and fill out a registration form in person. Voter registration forms are also available at most libraries, motor vehicle division (MVD) offices, city clerk offices and public assistance agencies. Even ACDHH has voter registration forms and staff that can help register you to vote! Permanent Early Voting List If you want to receive your ballot by mail, you can check the YES! Box to be placed on the Permanent Early Voter List. This allows a voter to automatically receive a ballot by mail for every election they are eligible to vote in. Once Registered Voters will receive a registration card in the mail from their County Recorder. Voters are encouraged to review the registration card to ensure the information is correct and as they intended. Voting. This word is defined as, “An expression of opinion or preference.” This is a concept well known by all Americans. As it should, we consider many issues facing the country are decided by elections. Presidents, judges, mayors, governors, they’re all voted upon by the general population. Those we elect into office have a direct effect on our day to day lives. We elect them to represent and decide on the many issues impacting us as a city, county, state and nation. This fundamental right is given to us as United States citizens. Voting is not only a right but a privilege and a responsibility. It is important that each person who is eligible to vote, votes and have their voice be heard. Even though it may not seem to make a difference, your vote is very important. It is critical to our country’s success, you can make a difference. Many elections are close and every vote counts. This is important for our democracy to make sure that the person you vote for wins and that people have their say in who runs the country and your state. In the United States we vote for people who are going to represent us in government. This could be a wide variety of positions but usually we vote for someone who we think is going to work for issues we find important. People who think like us. This way our opinion and view point is represented in the government. They’ll represent ideas and pass laws that we agree with. Their ideas can help solve the issues that we feel are important and they can pass laws in our cities, states and in our country. Here in Arizona we have elections each year which typically happen in March, May, August or November. Stay informed so you never miss your opportunity to vote.
